Artist Statement

Hi, I'm Ashley Beebe, a Texas-based, self-taught collage artist and lifelong daydreamer. I've never been one to settle for dull or ordinary; instead, I seek the extraordinary.

My art is a fantasy world representing a distinct perspective and obsession with pop culture from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s, my favorite decades. Full of whimsy and contradicting worlds with things that typically don't collide - seductive characters, chaotic scenes and always a little humor.

Although I am not a trained artist, I’ve never lacked creativity.  Imaginative storytelling and out-of-the-box thinking are traits I am most known for by those close to me. My ability to see things through a broader, more creative perspective empowers me to be unafraid of living in what others call a dream world, which not only inspires excitement in my art but also my own life.

Upon graduating from law school, I followed my passion for sports. I became the youngest certified female NFL agent, with a job most only dream about or see in the movies.

I spent the next decade representing over 30 NFL players while serving as Vice President of Marketing and Events at a highly reputable agency. As exciting as the job could be, it was also fast-paced and demanding, eventually causing me to lose interest and burn out. Hence, I left to find my next adventure. Even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined it to be art. I still have to fight, feeling like an imposter when discussing what I do.

So, how did I find my way to art?   With my newfound free time, I started to explore my creativity more.  I started needlepointing. I went to a screen printing class.  Then, one day, my mind went to the idea of collage since I loved scrapbooking growing up. I started cutting up old things and making surrealist collages using my pop culture print relics collection.

Today, my art consists of two types: hand-crafted originals made from tiny scraps of paper, which I reimagine into larger images on canvas. In addition, I create prints that represent traditional surrealism but are innovative in their size and material. Their large-scale and specialized metal medium, which offers a sleek high-gloss look, transforms the designs from stand prints into timeless fine art.
